Things to do in Rodrigues

This small volcanic island offers delightful seclusion and a slower pace of life. One of the best-kept secrets in the Indian Ocean is the rugged Rodrigues, northeast of Mauritius. The main attractions of this isolated island are its deserted beaches, memorable treks along the coast and delicious Creole food.

A quick boat ride to Ile aux Cocos, an islet with white sandy beaches and filao trees, is a must- do activity for amateur and passionate birdwatchers. Lying off coast of Rodrigues, this paradisical islet, is also a nesting and beautiful nature reserve for various seabirds.

The François Leguat Giant Tortoise and Cave Reserve is a remarkable local initiative that safeguards hundreds of giant tortoises.  For wildlife lovers and those seeking for a travel back in time, this reserve is the best option.

This gorgeous valley offers a stroll among the enormous Aldabra tortoises which perfectly adapt to their green reconstituted environment.

Hike the seaside path to Trou D'Argent and be rewarded with an absolute serenity away from the daily hustle and bustle. Nestled between two rugged, low-lying cliffs, this remote beach is one of the most breath-taking on the island. Because you can only reach there on foot, the views are even more satisfying when you arrive.
